A groundbreaking innovation born of PRECISE FRANCE’s expertise
PRECISE FRANCE has taken a new step forward in the field of precision drilling with the development of the PRECISE-LINE 5062, a new-generation electric spindle designed in close collaboration with SYCOTEC, a leading German manufacturer of high-speed electric spindles. As SYCOTEC’s exclusive representative and authorised repairer in France, PRECISE FRANCE has combined its expertise in mechatronic integration and machining processes with its partner’s technological know-how to develop a solution that is unique on the market.
Developed as part of the PRECI-PECKDRILL (PreciPeckDrill) project, for which a patent application was filed in early 2026, the PRECISE-LINE 5062 represents a major breakthrough in the field of robotic drilling of aerospace structures. This innovation is notable in particular for the native integration of WORMSENSING’s DRAGONFLY® sensor directly into the electric spindle during manufacture – a world first.
Today, this technology is being rolled out as part of a collaborative programme involving PRECISE FRANCE, CRENEAU INDUSTRIEL and AIRBUS, aimed at preparing the assembly processes for the next generation of commercial aircraft.
PRECI-PECKDRILL: a new approach to robotic drilling
At the heart of the PRECISE-LINE 5062 lies the innovative PRECI-PECKDRILL concept, developed to meet the aerospace industry’s growing demands for productivity, quality and automation.
The system is based on a compact vibration module featuring a new-generation linear motor, capable of simultaneously controlling the drilling feed and ensuring controlled chip fragmentation. This approach enables conventional UPA systems to be replaced whilst improving control over the drilling process in robotic environments.
Thanks to a programmable oscillation frequency ranging from 50 to 100 Hz and an adjustable amplitude of 0.05 to 0.2 mm, the system generates an oscillating motion synchronised with the tool’s rotation, corresponding to approximately one to two oscillations per revolution. This kinematic action promotes consistent chip breaking, improves chip evacuation and helps maintain a high standard of drilling quality, including in multi-material stacks typical of the aerospace industry.
The solution thus enables the production of H7-grade holes ranging from 3 to 6.35 mm in a wide variety of materials, whilst ensuring the repeatability essential for automated assembly operations.
An integrated technology platform for the aerospace factory of the future
The PRECISE-LINE 5062 combines a SYCOTEC 5062 HSK A32 electric spindle with a linear motor developed by PRECISE FRANCE, incorporating precision guides and an on-board measurement system. This compact architecture offers an excellent balance between dynamic performance, positioning accuracy and robotic integration.
The air-cooled electric spindle delivers a torque of 3 to 4 Nm across a speed range of 2,000 to 15,000 rpm, whilst maintaining a particularly low weight of 3.5 to 4 kg. Its HSK A32 interface enables automatic tool change and facilitates its integration into automated production cells.
Designed to operate in dry machining, with minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) or with CO₂ assistance, the PRECISE-LINE 5062 fully meets the new environmental and industrial requirements of the aerospace sector. By eliminating the cleaning operations traditionally required after machining, it contributes directly to the implementation of the ‘One Way Assembly’ concept, in which parts progress without interruption or intermediate rework throughout the assembly process.
The integration of the DRAGONFLY® sensor also paves the way for advanced real-time process monitoring, enabling improved traceability, quality control and the development of future smart machining strategies.
With the PRECISE-LINE 5062, PRECISE FRANCE reaffirms its position as a leader in industrial innovation by offering a solution that combines advanced mechatronics, embedded intelligence and ultra-high-precision drilling performance to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s aerospace industry.Haut du formulaire
