// Supercritical CO2 is a fluid state of CO2 that gives it unrivalled cooling (when expanded) and lubricating properties (when mixed with oil, which it then dissolves into nanoparticles). It is supplied in gas cylinders or tanks, with gas recovered from other industrial processes (thus avoiding its release into the atmosphere). This product has already been used for over 25 years in the food industry as a green solvent, for example to decaffeinate coffee or to extract essential oils or aromas from plants.
